agree with. These are the old things I will remind you of. But I will be bringing new things that perhaps you have never seen before from the pages of Scripture. Those who are led by the Spirit of God will see what I mean. We live in an age where men of God lie down in the road and let confusion and heresy run over them. We live in an age when those in Christian ministry have given up on the idea of purity of the faith. That is about to change. God is going to change it. He can, and will change this sorry state of affairs with or without me.
The Gospel: Key to the Kingdom
The gospel is simple: Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead on the third day. If you as a sinner confess your sin, and are sorry for them so that you want to repent, and firmly trust[1] in God, and His promise to forgive your sin through Christ, calling on Him as LORD and Savior, then you will be saved. When we are forgiven, we receive a pardon from God. A pardon means that the penalty of sin, which is death, is cancelled. When you come to faith, God also gives you the ability to repent of serious sins that would keep you from faithfully trusting Him. This is a measure of sanctification or holiness. You must choose to follow him daily as He opens your eyes. For the scriptures also say, "He who endures to the end will be saved"[2]. Firmly trusting God requires believing everything he says and not just a limited set of facts or a philosophy. That is the simple gospel: repent and believe the good news.[3] And if everyone understood it, then I could quit here. However, the fact is that numerous Christians are taught, believe, or teach doctrines that are incompatible with the gospel. Some people will not like the fact that I mentioned repentance as a condition of Salvation, nor will they like the fact that I said one must "firmly trust" in God as opposed to simply "believe." These points will be covered more fully later. First, we will discuss "justification by faith". The first thing you hear from many teachers is we are "justified by faith."
