Daniel's Literal Translation and Commentary
The Renewed Covenant by Daniel Gregg
"Against the first Sabbath let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come" (1Cor. 16:2).

"Against: Paul wants them to start saving among themselves after the first of the Sabbaths (cf. Lev. 23:15). He planned to stay in Ephesus till Pentecost (vs. 8), putting this text in the correct time frame for the first Sabbath. This was the annual offering that was sent to the Temple for Pentecost (vs. 3-4). Apparently, the Torah was interpreted to mean that the gift must be given by Shavuot and not necessarily arrive at the Temple on that date for the dispersion (Deut. 16:16-17)" (torahtimes.org).__
