Daniel's Literal Translation and Commentary

The Renewed Covenant by Daniel Gregg

"Galatians 3:6 just as Abraham faithfully trusted God, and it was counted to him for righteousness" (DLT: torahtimes.org).

See on the end of Gal. 3:5, "hearing with faithfulness".  Connect "hearing with faithfulness" to "just as" in Gal. 3:6.   The Greek verb πιστευω means, "trust, w. implication of total commitment to the one who is trusted" (BDAG).  It is not just "believe", but even if just that we must believe what God says is true, and when we believe then it is righteousness to believe since believing God is part of the greatest commandment.  Whatever we do right based on our faith in God, God justly considers righteousness.  That's includes the very act of trusting.  However, no one is perfect.  Therefore, God is not so unjust to consider any sinner perfectly righteous.  We must wait for the full measure of righteousness by faith (Gal. 5:5).   Righteousness is only imputed through the fulfillment of our faithfulness in obedience to God's commandments (Deut. 6:25).   There is no need for a forensic (legalistic) imputed righteousness whereby the righteousness of Christ is written into a legal account for us in heaven.   God doesn't care.  That is pure heresy and lawlessness, invented by mistranslation, Luther, and Calvin.  What He wants is real righteousness in the hearts of believers.  The only reason that heretical latter day apostatizing Christians, who have been duped by the mystery of iniquity, want God to consider them righteous when they are not, is for two reasons.  1) They think they are saved by acquittal and not a pardon (forgiveness), 2) They despise God's law with all their heart, and have no understanding at all of loving God by keeping his commandments, and the fact that Yeshua said he loves those who keep his commandments, and finally, they have the chutzpah to intimate that we who understand God's pardon in Messiah Yeshua are somehow deficient in the gospel because we want to obey God's commandments.  (DLC: torahtimes.org)
