Daniel's Literal Translation and Commentary
The Renewed Covenant by Daniel Gregg
"Leviticus 23:16 While in the day after the seventh sabbath shall ye number a fiftieth day; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto the LORD" (DLT: torahtimes.org).
while: עד or עוד. This is a matter of the vowel pointing, which was done by the Karaites. In the consonantal text, this is a valid rendering. The Karaites always counted the seven sabbaths starting on a Sunday. Little known is that the Masoretic Scholars were Karaites.
in the day after: again we see the extensive use of the word day as in vs. 15. It means the time after the seventh Sabbath in which a 50th day will be counted, sometimes the very next day after the seventh Sabbath, and sometimes up to seven days after the seventh Sabbath. The functional equivalent would be "While in the time after the seventh Sabbath you shall count up to a 50th day."
fiftieth day: the word day is singular and the word fifty is ordinal. Only days 43-50 can be numbered after the seventh Sabbath. There are seven cases of counting depending on the year, and only the 50th day is constant to all seven cases to be in the time after the seventh Sabbath." (DLC: torahtimes.org)
