Daniel's Literal Translation and Commentary

The Renewed Covenant by Daniel Gregg

"Matthew 26:17 Now in connection to the first day of the feast of unleavened bread the disciples came to Yeshua, saying unto him, Where wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the Passover?" (DLT: torahtimes.org).

in connection to: or "with reference to", proposed by C.S. Mann and W.F. Albright in the Anchor Bible Commentary on Matthew (pg. 319).  Matthew is not saying it was the first day of the feast.  He is only introducing a question about the first day of the feast."   The Hebrew or Aramaic would look like this: ולראשון המצות or possibly even ולראשית המצות or

ולראש המצות, corresponding to and for the beginning of unleavens, and and for the head of unleavens, respectively.  Since the phrase was not stated by the disciples, but only by the gospel writers we may expect some variations.  The key point is the ל representing the dative case τη, which may be translated "for, concerning, in connection to".
