the body: το σωμα. or sacrifice, or fellowship.  Paul's usage of "the body" here reinforces the correct interpretation of 2:17b, i.e. that "the body" means the corporate assembly of the the faithful.  The text alludes to Ephesians 2:19-21, where the believer is joined as a building component as a fellow citizen of the commonwealth of Israel.
