"Leviticus 23:11 And he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: in the day after the Sabbath the priest shall wave it" (DLT: torahtimes.org).
in the day after: here the waving of the sheaf is a singular event, so 'the day after' has its normal sense and not an extensive sense. This would be the 16th of Aviv [Nisan].
the Sabbath: השבת or Rest Day according to Rashi. This was the annual Passover Sabbath that landed on the 15th day of the month. In the ancient near east, the Babylonians and Assyrians called this day, the Shapattu or Shabbatu. Abraham left Ur of the Chaldees on this day. This was therefore a familiar designation for the 15th day of the new moon. Siding with Rashi on this question are the Rabbis generally, Josephus, Philo, the Targums and even the LXX (Greek Translation used by the Church in the first four centuries).
comment: the wave sheaf was a grain offering, a type of sacrifice that was combined with other offerings. The barley was waved, threshed, and made into unleavened cakes, and then eaten. The day for the eating of sacrificial offerings was counted from morning to morning (Lev. 7:15). Some had to be eaten by the third morning. Others had to be eating by the very next morning, as in the case of the Passover. The 16th of Nisan for these offerings was therefore dawn on the 16th to dawn on the 17th." (DLC: torahtimes.org)
